Vitamin D can reduce inflammation, pain, and has many other health benefits!

Vitamin D helps boost the immune system and that can help you combat sickness, such as the flu, this season.

**Optimum levels are 50-80ng/mL year round. Since my lab says 30ng/mL is normal, please be aware that your supplement may not be enough. 5,000 IU/day is a normal, adult recommended daily dose.

Please read the full article which is linked below.
I believe the last time was 2009 and I was pregnant at the time. Here are some links to some good articles on why you should NOT get the flu shot.

Do Flu Shots Work? (Dr. TenPenny)

"Not in adults: In a review of 48 reports including more than 66,000 adults, “Vaccination of healthy adults only reduced risk of influenza by 6% and reduced the number of missed work days by less than one day (0.16) days. It did not change the number of people needing to go to hospital or take time off work.”

Also, how to keep yourself well during flu season:

How to Protect Yourself Against the Flu Without Vaccination

Fortunately, avoiding a serious case of the flu doesn't require a flu vaccine. By following these simple guidelines, you can keep your immune system in optimal working order so that you're far less likely to acquire the infection to begin with or, if you do get sick with the flu, you are better prepared to move through it without complications and soon return to good health.

Optimize your vitamin D levels. As I've previously reported, optimizing your vitamin D levels is one of the absolute best strategies for avoiding infections of ALL kinds, and vitamin D deficiency is likely the TRUE culprit behind the seasonality of the flu -- not the flu virus itself. This is probably the single most important and least expensive action you can take. Regularlymonitor your vitamin D levels to confirm your levels are within the therapeutic range of 50-70 ng/ml.

Ideally, you'll want to get all your vitamin D from sun exposure or a safe tanning bed, but as a last resort you can take an oral vitamin D3 supplement. According to the latest review by Carole Baggerly (Grassrootshealth.org), adults need about 8,000 IU's a day.

Avoid Sugar and Processed Foods. Sugar impairs the function of your immune system almost immediately, and as you likely know, a healthy immune system is one of the most important keys to fighting off viruses and other illness. Be aware that sugar is present in foods you may not suspect, like ketchup and fruit juice.

Get Enough Rest. Just like it becomes harder for you to get your daily tasks done if you're tired, if your body is overly fatigued it will be harder for it to fight the flu. Be sure to check out my article Guide to a Good Night's Sleep for some great tips to help you get quality rest.

Have Effective Tools to Address Stress . We all face some stress every day, but if stress becomes overwhelming then your body will be less able to fight off the flu and other illness. If you feel that stress is taking a toll on your health, consider using an energy psychology tool such as the Emotional Freedom Technique, which is remarkably effective in relieving stress associated with all kinds of events, from work to family to trauma.

Exercise. When you exercise, you increase your circulation and your blood flow throughout your body. The components of your immune system are also better circulated, which means your immune system has a better chance of finding an illness before it spreads.

Take a Good Source of Animal-Based Omega-3 Fats. Increase your intake of healthy and essential fats like the omega-3 found in krill oil, which is crucial for maintaining health. It is also vitally important to avoid damaged omega-6 oils that are trans fats and in processed foods as it will seriously damage your immune response.

Wash Your Hands. Washing your hands will decrease your likelihood of spreading a virus to your nose, mouth or other people. Be sure you don't use antibacterial soap for this -- antibacterial soaps are completely unnecessary, and they cause far more harm than good. Instead, identify a simple chemical-free soap that you can switch your family to.

Use Natural Antibiotics. Examples include colloidal silver, oil of oregano, and garlic. These work like broad-spectrum antibiotics against bacteria, viruses, and protozoa in your body. And unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics, they do not appear to lead to resistance.

Avoid Hospitals. I'd recommend you stay away from hospitals unless you're having an emergency and need expert medical care, as hospitals are prime breeding grounds for infections of all kinds. The best place to get plenty of rest and recover from illness that is not life-threatening is usually in the comfort of your own home.

My midwife didn't want to influence us either way, but I felt she was kind of reserved on the issue (against it). I had a hospital birth with a midwife with baby #5 in 2004. We didn't do the vitamin K with the last 3 children. Babies #6 (Eden) and #7 (Joshua) were c-sections. This article states that the risk of brain bleeding due to lack of vitamin K is 5 out of 100,000. That's .00005 percent!

Eye Ointment

This ointment is routinely applied to newborns to prevent complications due to std's--specifically chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhea. The concern is a bacterial infection of the eye that may lead to blindness. Most likely, you don't have any of these std's, so this is not an issue for you. I will say this, I have Group B Strep during my pregnancies, so we did decide to do the ointment for my 5th baby who was born naturally, BUT we delayed for a bit so he could bond with me. If I had to do it over again, I would refuse it. My 2 C-section babies did not have it.

Here is an article regarding the eye ointment.

Our hospital was willing to work with us and our midwife and my OB have been very supportive of our right to choose. However, if I were dealing with a different situation, I would draw up papers stating my objection to the vitamin K shot, prophylactic eye drops, etc. and have them notarized. It would show them you are serious when you show up with that paper. Your husband should go with the baby if he/she is removed from your room after birth for any reason to make sure the medical staff upholds your wishes. Also, discuss your desires with your pediatrician before the birth.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08070358918737011146noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4999393671821806654.post-91421302656593579582009-02-19T12:43:00.000-08:002009-02-25T06:49:57.318-08:00More reports on the HPV VaccineGo to this link and watch Gabi's story...

http://www.kake.com/kansas/headlines/39581687.html

28 young women have DIED from this vaccine. In order to make this compact I will not go into too much detail. In short, my 17 year old daughter was diagnosed with it at the ripe age of 3. At around age 14 she began a remission. She went off the dreaded methotrexate she had been on for years. Some children "outgrow" it. I was hopeful she was one of them. Last summer she got a tetanus booster. (This is the ONE we do get.) I was told it was fine by her rheumatologist. Ever since then she has been complaining of aches and pains off and on. Well, by this summer she is in full blown active phase again. It could be coincidence that this happened following the tetanus shot. I'll never truly know... (She had a flare after her MMR booster at age 5, too. This is back when I wasn't armed with what I know now about vaccines.) Currently, she is taking methotrexate and naproxyn. Three days a week she is so sick to her stomach that she occasionally has dry heaves in the morning, she can hardly eat, and fights nausea. We're seeing our doctor here at home this coming week. If you think of it. Please pray for her. I know God is greater than this disease! (I think I've learned a valuable lesson, too.)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08070358918737011146noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4999393671821806654.post-43178031798177555752008-08-15T18:56:00.000-07:002008-08-15T19:02:31.737-07:00Saying No to VaccinesI recently found this information thanks to some helpful MOMYS. This isn't just happening there, folks. The danger of this vaccine is adult onset of the disease which is much more serious. Requiring booster shots is foolish. A real case of the disease would give life-long immunity, not just possible temporary protection. In addition, there has been a rise of shingles in small children who have been vaccinated. This is a vaccine of convenience. In the long run it is not a good choice for the health of our children.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08070358918737011146noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4999393671821806654.post-7698689532706605122008-01-15T07:00:00.000-08:002008-01-15T07:04:42.331-08:00Book Review Coming Soon!I am reading this book and will post a review very soon! You can read Judicial Watch's report and documents at the link posted below.
Additionally, I'm including two recent articles on two different HEALTHY ALTHLETIC teenage girls becoming very seriously injured by the HPV vaccine. We'd like people to think about the fact that this is the same vaccine that is being pushed for mandates by misinformed or conflict-of-interest ridden legislators around the country.
As political races continue to heat up, be aware of the candidates from the presidential level down to your county officials and where they feel the government's role should be in health care. Experience shows that the more control the government has over your health care, the less freedom you will have, period. Don't forget that WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS - our FDA approved the HPV vaccine, our Congress gave the vaccine maker liability protection from the harm caused by this vaccine, and some of our state legislators and governors have tried to FORCE this vaccine on our young daughters. Look at these articles and ask yourself how much more you want the government deciding for you what you must do to be healthy. Find some candidates you beleive in and help them. My oldest child, Celeste, has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis which was diagnosed at age 3. Jamie, my second child, had allergy-induced asthma for years and it made for many sleepless nights. Dan, my third child, experienced a drastic personality change after receiving the MMR vaccine. (Needless to say, we didn't get the booster at age 5!) I recently came across an article that I saved regarding a different vaccine schedule. It is very clear reading and puts forth a different vaccine schedule than the CDC or your state might. I want everyone to be aware that most states have exemptions for vaccines due to medical, religious, and philosophical beliefs on the part of the parents. Think about it, does the government have the right to tell us what to put into our children's bodies? If your pediatrician is not friendly to a different vaccine schedule, or perhaps, no vaccines at all, then I suggest you find another pediatrician. My two youngest children are not vaccinated at all and have been the healthiest children thus far. Arm yourself. Don't just do what the government or the doctors say is best. Be informed.

Here is the article: A User-Friendly Vaccination Schedule.

I have recently received information regarding the HPV vaccine (Don't give this one to your girls ever!) and meningitis vaccine. I will try to get that info up. I have the HPV info in email format and am trying to figure out the best way to post it as it is long.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08070358918737011146noreply@blogger.com1
